New details have emerged in the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer, was arrested for the crime. The post-mortem report revealed that Roy struck the doctor with such force that her glasses shattered, causing shards to pierce her eyes. The report confirmed that the doctor was sexually assaulted before being murdered, ruling out suicide.
Sanjoy Roy, who joined the Kolkata Police as a civic volunteer in 2019, was allegedly addicted to pornography, with violent content found on his phone. He had been married four times and was known as a "womanizer," with a history of physically abusing his wives. After committing the crime, Roy went to a police barrack and slept until Friday morning. He was also a trained boxer and had close ties with senior police officers, which led to his posting at RG Kar Medical College.
