In the early hours of Sunday, two burglars attempted to rob a Muthoot Finance office in Phase 2, Mohali. They broke into the office by entering from an adjacent under-construction building, after damaging a common wall with iron tools and a gas cutter. However, their plan was thwarted by advanced security systems and a quick police response. The burglars fled the scene but left behind an Aadhaar card, which revealed the identity of one of the suspects.
The police identified the suspect as Hari Swarankar from Sahibganj, Jharkhand. Swarankar is a laborer working at the nearby construction site. Branch manager Amit Soran had received an alert at 1:48 a.m. from the security head of the Delhi branch about alarms going off and CCTV cameras malfunctioning. When police arrived, they discovered the damaged wall and the tools used for the break-in. Inside the under-construction building, officers found a screwdriver, iron rods, and a gas cutter, along with a bag containing Swarankar’s Aadhaar card.
The police have launched a manhunt for the two suspects, who were captured on CCTV. They are searching in Karnal and Delhi to locate them. A case has been registered against the suspects under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including house trespassing, theft in a building, and criminal conspiracy.
