AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal will surrender all his government facilities, including his bungalow and vehicles, after stepping down as Delhi Chief Minister. A party functionary confirmed this on Wednesday, but did not provide a specific timeline for when this will happen.

Controversies and transition

Kejriwal has been living in bungalow number six on Flag Staff Road in Delhi’s Civil Lines since 2015. The bungalow underwent extensive renovations, which drew significant criticism. Kejriwal will need to vacate the bungalow once his resignation is officially accepted.

On Tuesday, after Kejriwal resigned, AAP leader Atishi expressed interest in forming the next government. Kejriwal had previously nominated Atishi as his successor after the AAP legislative party authorized him to choose the next chief minister.

The process for accepting Kejriwal’s resignation involves the President, who must approve and notify the resignation. According to Article 239AA (5) of the Constitution, the President appoints the Delhi Chief Minister, while the Chief Minister appoints the ministers. Until the President accepts and announces the resignation, Kejriwal and his Cabinet will remain in office.
