Jigra, featuring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina, was released in theaters on October 11, 2024. The film was highly anticipated as it was Alia's solo release for the year, but it has not performed well at the box office. After a weak opening weekend, the film's earnings continued to decline during the weekdays.

On its sixth day, Jigra earned just ₹1.25 crore, bringing its total earnings to ₹21.10 crore. The movie started with a low opening of ₹4.55 crore, then collected ₹6.55 crore on its second day and dropped to ₹5.5 crore on its third day. Day five saw earnings of ₹1.65 crore.

Controversies surrounding Jigra

Jigra has also faced various controversies. Divya Khossla Kumar claimed the film, which is about a jailbreak, is similar to her previous film, Savi. She accused Alia Bhatt of manipulating box office numbers by buying tickets to falsely inflate collections. This added to the negative attention surrounding the film.

Jigra tells the story of a devoted sister named Satya Anand, played by Alia Bhatt, who goes on a difficult journey to rescue her brother, Ankur Anand, portrayed by Vedang Raina. The film is produced by Dharma Productions and presented by Viacom18 Studios and Eternal Sunshine Productions. It has been co-written by Debashish Irengbam and Vasan Bala, who also directed the film.

Despite its promising concept and star cast, Jigra has not met audience expectations and is struggling to gain traction at the box office. With further dips in earnings, the future of the film looks uncertain.
