Rishabh Pant was expected to be retained by the Delhi Capitals ahead of the upcoming IPL mega auction. However, a recent report from the Times of India raises questions about his future with the team. Just a few months ago, Delhi Capitals’ co-owner Parth Jindal stated that Pant would be their top retention choice, but plans have since changed.
The report mentions that the franchise is taking more time to make a decision about Pant due to significant changes in how the team is managed. The GMR Group will oversee the franchise for the next two years. Although the team wants to keep Pant, they need to sort out some details with JSW, as both companies are sharing responsibilities for running the team.

Teams like Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings are also interested in having Rishabh Pant as their captain. This puts pressure on Delhi Capitals to finalize their decision.
In the new management structure, GMR will run the Delhi Capitals during the 2025 and 2026 IPL seasons. Meanwhile, JSW will manage the Women’s Premier League team and the Pretoria Capitals during those two years.
Recently, Venugopal Rao and Hemang Badani were named the director of cricket and head coach of Delhi Capitals, respectively. Sourav Ganguly will head cricket operations for JSW Sports, focusing on the women’s team and the Pretoria franchise, but he will not be involved with the men’s team during this time.
Ganguly expressed his enthusiasm for working with the JSW Group, highlighting the good relationship he has with them. Parth Jindal also praised Ganguly, calling him a vital asset to the JSW Sports team. With all these changes, fans are eagerly waiting to see what happens next with Rishabh Pant and the Delhi Capitals.
