During his recent visit to Patna, Union Minister and BJP national president JP Nadda extended warm greetings to people celebrating Chhath Puja, a popular festival in Bihar. Nadda participated in Chhath celebrations at the homes of senior BJP leaders and enjoyed a boat ride on the Ganges with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, waving to crowds who responded with chants for “Chhathi Maiya.” Nadda shared fond memories of his childhood in Patna and wished for blessings upon Bihar and Purvanchal.
However, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav used the occasion to criticize Nadda. Tejashwi, who lost his Deputy CM position when Nitish Kumar rejoined the BJP-led NDA, stated that Nadda’s visit lacked substance, suggesting he should have addressed Bihar’s need for special status. Tejashwi plans to start his campaign for upcoming bypolls, which are seen as a prelude to the 2025 state elections.

Nadda also visited the residence of his colleague Chirag Paswan, who celebrated Chhath with family. Remembering his late father, Paswan shared hopes for Chhathi Maiya’s blessings and expressed confidence in the NDA’s victory in both Bihar bypolls and the neighboring Jharkhand assembly elections. Paswan noted a rise in public dissatisfaction with the INDIA bloc, suggesting voters may choose the NDA, aligning with Prime Minister Modi’s vision for a developed India by 2047.
