Mumbai Police on Tuesday detained Sohail Pasha, a 24-year-old aspiring songwriter, who allegedly sent threatening messages to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. The messages, sent via the Mumbai traffic police's WhatsApp helpline on November 7, demanded ₹5 crore from Khan. Pasha claimed to be a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, adding that Khan would face consequences if the ransom wasn’t paid. Pasha further warned he would kill the songwriter of the song “Main Sikandar Hun” if his demand was ignored.
This incident marks another chapter in a string of threats against Khan, many reportedly linked to Lawrence Bishnoi, a notorious gangster. The recent threat messages were taken seriously by the authorities, and Mumbai Police launched a comprehensive investigation to trace their origin. This led the crime branch to Raichur, Karnataka, where they apprehended Pasha, who allegedly used the threatening messages as a means of promoting his own work, seeking fame for his song.

Mumbai Police tracked down the phone number used to send the threats, locating it in Raichur. A team traveled to Karnataka and identified Vyankatesh Narayan as the owner of the number. During questioning, Narayan claimed he had no involvement in the case, and his phone, which lacked internet access, had received an OTP for a WhatsApp installation. Investigators uncovered that a stranger had approached Narayan on November 3, requesting to use his phone to make a call, and instead, used the number to verify a WhatsApp account on another device.
Following this lead, the police zeroed in on Pasha, who reportedly authored “Main Sikandar Hun,” the song referenced in the threats. Pasha allegedly sought fame and thought associating his work with a high-profile threat would bring attention to his song. He was detained in Manavi village near Raichur, then transferred to Mumbai, where the Worli police took over the case for further investigation.
This incident adds to a series of threats received by Salman Khan in recent months. Police have been on high alert due to potential risks posed to the actor, with this latest arrest emphasizing the need for continued vigilance.
