Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena announced that over 1,000 new applications for ownership rights were received during the first two days of special camps organized under the PM-UDAY scheme. These camps aim to grant ownership rights to residents of unauthorized colonies in Delhi. Over 6,000 people participated in the 10 camps held in various locations, and several existing applications were also corrected and processed.

Progress at the Camps

The camps, organized by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), addressed issues such as conveyance deeds, authorization slips, GIS surveys, and new registrations. In just two days, 1,028 new applications were received, 275 applications approved, and 231 conveyance deeds or authorization slips issued. Additionally, flaws in 710 older applications were corrected.

Lieutenant Governor Saxena urged residents of unauthorized colonies to actively participate in these camps, describing the initiative as a significant step toward providing legal recognition to properties in Delhi.

Camps and Services

The camps are being held every weekend from November 30 to December 29 in 10 designated centers across unauthorized colonies, including Burari, Najafgarh, Karawal Nagar, and New Ashok Nagar. During his visit to the Shyam Vihar camp in Najafgarh, Saxena interacted with beneficiaries, ensuring they were satisfied with the services offered.

The PM-UDAY (Prime Minister-Unauthorized Colonies in Delhi Awas Adhikar Yojana) scheme aims to benefit residents of 1,731 unauthorized colonies by granting them legal ownership of their properties. This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve the quality of life for residents in these areas by providing legal documentation and security for their homes.

With camps running throughout December, the program has already made notable progress, marking a positive step toward achieving its goals. The LG encouraged more residents to join the initiative and make use of the services provided at these camps.
