Sukumar’s "Pushpa 2: The Rule," starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, continues to dominate the box office as it enters its third week. The sequel to the 2021 blockbuster "Pushpa: The Rise" has officially crossed the ₹1000 crore net mark in India, according to reports from Sacnilk. This impressive milestone highlights the film’s enduring popularity and widespread appeal across audiences.

Box Office milestones

On its third Friday, the film collected approximately ₹12.11 crore, bringing its total collection to around ₹1002.71 crore net. The movie’s journey began with an outstanding opening day and first-week collection, earning ₹725.8 crore net in week one and ₹264.8 crore net in the second week. Despite a 63.52% drop in collections between the first two weeks, the film remains a strong contender, particularly in the Hindi-speaking market, where it has brought in ₹632.50 crore net within 15 days.

Worldwide, "Pushpa 2: The Rule" crossed ₹1500 crore within 14 days, making it one of the few films to achieve this feat. The film is now on track to challenge "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion," which holds the record for the highest box office collection in India.

In "Pushpa 2: The Rule," Allu Arjun reprises his role as Pushpa Raj, a red sanders smuggler navigating the gritty underworld. His performance has been a significant draw for audiences, adding depth and charisma to the high-stakes narrative.

The actor recently faced legal troubles after his arrest on December 13 in connection with a tragic incident at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. During the film’s premiere, a stampede-like situation resulted in the death of a fan and left a young boy critically injured. Arjun was granted four-week interim bail by the Telangana High Court on December 14. This controversy, however, has not dimmed the film’s success or Arjun’s popularity.

OTT release rumours

Before the film’s theatrical release, Netflix acquired its digital streaming rights, sparking speculation about its OTT debut. However, the producers, Mythri Movie Makers, recently clarified that "Pushpa 2: The Rule" will not be available on any OTT platform before 56 days of its theatrical release. They urged fans to experience the film on the big screen during the holiday season, emphasizing the grandeur and cinematic scale of the production.

Day-wise collections highlight the film’s incredible performance. After a robust opening, "Pushpa 2" maintained steady earnings, cementing its position as one of the biggest hits in Indian cinema history:

The film’s success in the Hindi belt has been particularly notable, outpacing other major releases like "Stree 2," "Jawan," and even "Baahubali 2" in terms of net collections in its first 15 days. Fans have lauded the film for its engaging storyline, powerful performances, and larger-than-life action sequences.

Allu Arjun’s homecoming after the film’s success was met with fanfare and divided opinions. Social media has been abuzz with reactions, with some fans celebrating his achievements while others criticized the fanfare surrounding his return.
