India is set to host the ISSF Junior World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun 2025, marking a significant milestone for the country's growing prominence in the sport. The announcement adds another prestigious event to the already impressive resume of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI). This will be the third major ISSF event held in the country within two years, following the senior ISSF World Cup in Bhopal in 2023 and the ISSF World Cup Final earlier in 2024. This accomplishment firmly establishes India as a leading global destination for shooting sports.

The official confirmation came on Friday, December 20, when the NRAI received a letter from the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF). Reacting to the development, Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, president of the NRAI, expressed his excitement and gratitude. He stated, “We had a very fruitful executive committee meeting of the ISSF in Rome last month, and all member federations, as well as the ISSF President Luciano Rossi, praised India for its exceptional hosting of top international shooting competitions. This official confirmation energizes us to deliver yet another successful event.”

Singh Deo also acknowledged the invaluable support of the Government of India and the Ministry of Sports in helping elevate shooting sports in the country. Their backing has played a crucial role in creating a conducive environment for hosting international championships and nurturing local talent.

Busy year for Indian Shooting

The ISSF Junior World Cup 2025 will be the ninth top-tier shooting championship hosted in India over the past decade. However, it will be the first-ever ISSF Junior World Cup held in the country. Previously, India hosted two continental championships and six ISSF events, including two World Cup Finals and four senior ISSF World Cups.

India’s shooting ranges will remain bustling throughout 2025, as the inaugural Shooting League of India (SLI) is also scheduled for the first half of the year. This league aims to provide a platform for both emerging and established shooters, complementing the regular national competitions that conclude with the annual national championship.

The continuous hosting of international events underscores India’s commitment to developing shooting sports at all levels. These efforts not only enhance the sport’s global profile but also inspire young athletes to pursue excellence on the international stage.
