The MahaKumbh 2025 in Prayagraj is attracting massive crowds, with nearly 10 crore devotees already visiting the Triveni Sangam for holy dips. However, the upcoming Mauni Amavasya, one of the most auspicious days of the festival, is expected to witness an unprecedented turnout of 10 crore people in a single day. This day marks the second Amrit Snan (royal bath), considered the most significant of the three Amrit Snans in the Kumbh. Millions of saints, including Naga Sadhus and Aghoris, will participate, accompanied by pilgrims from across the globe.

To manage this influx, Indian Railways has ramped up its preparations. Over 3,000 special trains have already been introduced for the Kumbh, and additional measures are being taken for Mauni Amavasya. The Railways has decided to cancel several long-distance trains to free up tracks and manage local crowd movements efficiently at the Prayagraj station.

A grand celebration of faith and unity

The MahaKumbh is a remarkable confluence of spirituality and devotion, symbolizing unity in diversity. Since its commencement on January 13, over 7 crore people have already taken holy dips, with record-breaking participation of over 1 crore devotees on the first day alone. Helicopters showered rose petals on pilgrims as they performed their rituals, adding to the divine atmosphere.

By the end of the 45-day festival, the total attendance is expected to reach 50 crore. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed confidence in accommodating this massive number, with preparations made for up to 100 crore visitors. The 12 to 18 km stretch of ghats at Triveni Sangam ensures that all devotees can comfortably take part in the sacred rituals.

MahaKumbh 2025 features six holy baths and three royal ones. The first Shahi Snan was held on Makar Sankranti, January 14. The next royal bath is on Mauni Amavasya, January 29, followed by the third and final Shahi Snan on Basant Panchami. The remaining holy baths will occur on February 13 (Maghi Purnima) and February 26 (Mahashivratri), which also marks the festival’s conclusion.

A rare ‘Purna Kumbh’ after 144 years

This year’s MahaKumbh is unique as it is a "Purna Kumbh," a celestial event occurring after 12 cycles of Kumbh. The last Purna Kumbh was held in 1881. MahaKumbh’s grandeur and sanctity continue to draw millions, uniting people beyond caste, creed, or economic status in devotion.

Prayagraj, the city of confluence, stands as a testament to faith and cultural unity, offering an unparalleled spiritual experience. If you seek divine blessings and wish to witness this awe-inspiring event, the time to visit is now.
