Famous music producer and record executive Irv Gotti has died at the age of 54. His death was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter on February 5. Reports suggest that he may have suffered a stroke and a brain bleed before passing away, but no official details have been released.
Irv Gotti, whose real name was Irving Domingo Lorenzo Jr., was best known as the co-founder of Murder Inc. Records. He launched the label in 1998 under Def Jam Recordings and helped shape the careers of many top hip-hop artists. His production work included songs for Jay-Z, DMX, Kanye West, Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Eve, and Ashanti.
Gotti had struggled with health issues for years, especially diabetes. In 2023, he spoke about how the disease had affected his life. He explained that diabetes was common in Black communities and that it had started damaging his body. He admitted that controlling it was difficult, as most foods he enjoyed were unhealthy.

In August 2024, his representative revealed that he had suffered a minor stroke due to his long-term battle with diabetes. Photos of him using a cane to walk were leaked online, sparking concerns about his health. However, his rep assured fans that Gotti had been recovering well at home after making lifestyle changes.
Despite his health issues, Gotti remained active in the music industry. He produced many hit songs, including DMX’s It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, Ja Rule’s Between Me and You, Ashanti’s Foolish, and Fat Joe’s What’s Luv. His influence on hip-hop and R&B remains strong, and he will be remembered as a key figure in the industry.
