The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the central government of trying to hide details about the tragic stampede at New Delhi railway station. The incident, which happened at around 10 PM, led to the death of 18 people and injured many others.

During a press conference, AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that the government is not revealing the true number of victims. Some reports suggest that more people may have died than what officials have confirmed.

“They are trying to act like nothing happened. How long will the government continue to ignore such tragedies? When will the Railway Minister take responsibility?" Singh questioned.

Confusion over train announcements

Sanjay Singh further claimed that the stampede was caused by a sudden change in train platforms. According to eyewitnesses, a train that was supposed to arrive at Platform 12 was moved to Platform 14 at the last minute. This sudden change caused panic among the passengers, leading to the stampede.

Reports also indicate that two trains with similar names—Prayagraj Express and Prayagraj Special—arrived at different platforms at the same time. Many passengers got confused and rushed in different directions, making the situation worse.

Delhi Police sources said that there were four trains going to Prayagraj that night, but three were running late. This delay resulted in unexpected overcrowding at the station.

Witnesses described the horrifying scene where people were pushing and falling over each other. Many lost their belongings, and the station was filled with scattered footwear and luggage.

Demand for compensation

AAP has demanded that the government provide proper compensation to the families of the victims. The party also insists that the Railway Minister must take responsibility for the tragedy.

The incident has raised serious questions about passenger safety and crowd management at railway stations. Many believe that better planning and communication could have prevented this disaster.
