Pope Francis, 88, is still in a critical condition but has shown slight improvement, according to the Vatican. The Pope was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on February 14 after suffering from bronchitis for a week. This has become his longest hospital stay in his 12-year papacy.

The Vatican shared that while the Pope is still receiving oxygen, the flow and percentage have been reduced. Some of his lab test results have also improved. The mild kidney issue reported earlier is not a cause for concern.

Pope resumes work

Despite his health struggles, Pope Francis resumed work on Monday. He made a call to a Catholic parish in Gaza, continuing his regular communication amid the Israel-Hamas conflict. A Vatican official also confirmed that he is eating normally and moving around his hospital room.

Doctors have warned that pneumonia remains a serious concern, and there is a risk of sepsis, a dangerous infection. However, no signs of sepsis have been reported so far. Christians around the world are praying for the Pope’s recovery, and the Vatican remains hopeful about his health.
