For raping his 13-year-old acquaintance and distant relative, a 20-year-old was sentenced to ten years in prison by the court. It was said that the criminal had wrecked the girl's life and harmed his own at such a young age as a result of his crime.

“The sentence of the accused will send a message to the youth of today, who are in the age group of (the) accused, that uncontrollable desire for satisfaction of lust can spoil their future, career and golden period of progress,” says Priti Kumar Ghule, special judge at Posco Court.

According to a special court for the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO), having a friend of the opposite sex does not suggest she is accessible to satisfy sexual desire.

The court went on to say that the cornerstone of future advancement, regardless of gender, is laid in the early years of youth. “In (the) present case, the future of the accused, as well as the survivor, has come in the shadow of darkness due to the offence committed by the accused,” the judge said.

The court decided that the highest sentence was not required because the accused knew the consequences of his actions. It went on to say that the little survivor was eligible for compensation under the District Legal Services Authority's compensation systems. The minor's marriage would face difficulties as a result of the convict's actions, as her engagement has already been terminated, according to the statement.
