In the public interest, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya urged resident doctors to put off their strike over NEET PG Counseling on Tuesday.
Dr. Mandaviya met with doctors' association officials at Nirman Bhawan today, a day after police retaliated against protesting doctors.
As the protest, organised by the Federation of Resident Doctors' Association, entered its 12th day on Tuesday, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya encouraged protesting resident doctors to call off their strike in the public good. For several days, resident doctors have been voicing their displeasure with the delay in NEET-PG 2021 counselling.
"I called a conference with all of the resident physicians. We are unable to provide counselling because the case is pending before the Supreme Court. The hearing will be held on January 6th. I'm hoping that NEET Postgraduate Counseling would begin soon "Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Health Minister, told ANI.
Residents at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi are protesting for their demands, creating disruption to patients at three Centre-run hospitals — Safdarjung, RML, and Lady Hardinge hospitals, as well as several Delhi government-run institutions.
Due to Covid-19, the NEET-PG examination was postponed in 2021, causing the counselling and admission procedure to be postponed as well. As a result of the delay in counselling, resident doctors are working overtime under difficult conditions.
