Five members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) have been charged with manhandling a police officer in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. On Friday, the incident in issue occurred in Vilankurichi.
According to accounts, a brawl erupted between Coimbatore police and RSS activists after the latter refused to let police officers into a private school where the organisation was hosting a training programme.
After Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) stated that it will organise a protest against the RSS, police forces were positioned in considerable numbers near the school in Vilankurichi, Coimbatore.
Around 19 NTK cadres attempted to conduct a protest outside the school on Friday afternoon, but were quickly apprehended by police.
The police had no intention of entering the school, according to Deputy Commissioner T Jayachandran (Coimbatore city North). They were merely requesting that RSS members stay inside the school and not leave.
The RSS members, on the other hand, refused to listen to the police and instead got into a fight with the officers on the scene.
On Saturday, RSS workers were charged with manhandling a police officer during the fight. Five people have been identified, and an inquiry into the identities of further suspects is underway.
