A video of a Kerala cop abusing a Maveli Express passenger has gone viral. The incident happened on January 3rd. The passenger was beaten by the cop for riding in the sleeping bus with only a general ticket.
The incident occurred shortly after the Mangalore-Trivandrum Maveli Express left Kannur station. The officer who beat the man has been named as Kannur Railway Station Assistant Sub-inspector.
Visuals of the cop slapping and kicking the young man went viral on social media, bringing the issue to light. Later, at Vadakara station, the man was thrown out of the sleeper compartment.
The officer's actions astounded the audience. They have urged that he be punished severely. When the cop came at the compartment for a normal check, he discovered the passenger was travelling in the general compartment with a ticket for that compartment.
Instead of dealing with the problem, the cop assaulted him. While the situation was occurring, another guest in the higher bed filmed the visuals.
Following recent reports of police brutality, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan convened a meeting of high-ranking police officers to consider possible solutions.
