Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the integrated terminal at Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala, Tripura's capital, on his way back from Imphal, Manipur's capital, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a total of 22 developmental projects. The Prime Minister addressed the crowd, saying that the India of the twenty-first century will progress by bringing everyone together in the spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, and Sabka Prayas.

Unbalanced growth, with some states lagging behind and populations lacking even basic necessities, is undesirable. He said that this is what the people of Tripura had been witnessing for decades.

The Mukhyamantri Tripura Gram Samriddhi Yojana and the Vidyajyoti Schools Project 100 Mission, are some major projects PM Modi also announced.

Following that, the Prime Minister addressed a crowd and spoke about his 'Hira' development strategy for the northeastern state.

In February 2018, Prime Minister Modi originally proposed the 'Hira' model for Tripura, ahead of the state's assembly elections. Biplab Deb was sworn in as chief minister after his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the ensuing elections.

He praised Deb and the BJP administration, saying that the 'double engine' government, which means the same ruling party at the center and in the state, has improved Tripura's connectivity with the rest of the nation.

He further explained, “There is no match for double government. Double engine government means proper use of resources, it means sensitivity, and it means boosting people's ability. Double engine government means people's service, it means fulfillment of resolutions, and it also means united effort for prosperity.”

In addition to PM Modi and Chief Minister Deb, Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Deb Barman and Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia were among those who attended the inaugural event.
