Near the Jewar toll plaza, a 45-year-old passenger was killed by a cab driver after being thrown onto the road and driven over by another fast vehicle.

According to reports, the victim, Utkarsh Singh, an engineer from Indirapuram in Ghaziabad, was slain by the cab driver during a robbery attempt.

Sudhir Kumar, station house officer (SHO), Dankaur police station, claimed in a report published in the Hindustan Times (HT) that Singh ordered a cab from Mathura to Indirapuram on November 7, 2021.

During the ride, the driver abruptly came to a halt near the Jewar toll plaza, citing vehicle problems in order to dupe the victim. Utkarsh exited the truck at that point, and the driver took advantage of the chance to shove him onto the road.

After that, he was run down by a speeding vehicle coming from the same direction.

Following then, the accused departed the scene with Utkarsh's five bags.

Meanwhile, the man was transported to a neighbouring hospital, where physicians pronounced him dead.

To find the cab, police combed through CCTV footage from adjacent places. However, the accused's movement near Galgotias University in Dankaur was reported to the police on Wednesday. Police arrived on the scene shortly after receiving a tip and detained him there.

Rakesh Kumar, the accused, is a native of Bulandshahr and a resident of Indirapuram's Shakti Khand 4. The victim's stolen belongings were also found at the suspect's home.
