In a case involving the blockage of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy in Ferozepur earlier this week, Punjab police have filed a FIR against 150 unidentified people. Modi was on his way to attend a public rally when his convoy was blocked.
Under Section 283 of the Indian Penal Code, a FIR has been filed against the defendant (IPC). According to the legislation, anybody who causes danger, obstruction, or injury to any person in any public road or public line of navigation by doing or failing to do anything, or by failing to keep order with any item in his control or in his charge, is subject to a fine of up to Rs 200.
Meanwhile, on Friday, a central team investigating “severe failures” in PM Modi’s security during his visit to Ferozepur arrived in the city. On the other side, the Punjab government reported to the central government that a FIR had been filed in the case.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) appointed a three-member committee on Thursday to look into the sequence of events that occurred during the Prime Minister’s visit on January 5.
