NEET-PG counseling for the year 2021-2022 will begin on January 12, according to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
The minister's statement came two days after the Supreme Court cleared the way for the blocked counseling process to resume, saying it should proceed based on the existing 27% OBC and 10% EWS quota in the All India Quota seats.
The health minister stated in a statement on Facebook that the move will offer the country additional strength in its fight against coronavirus sickness. "My best wishes to all the candidates."
The Supreme Court stated on Friday that there is an "urgent need" to commence the admissions process.
“NEET-PG counseling is being started by MCC from January 12, 2022, following the order of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, as assured by the Ministry of Health to the resident doctors. This will give more strength to the country in the fight against Corona. My best wishes to all the candidates,” the minister said.
The judgment came as a relief to the Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA), which had led a weeks-long protest against the delay in NEET-PG counseling, which had a severe impact on healthcare services in government hospitals across the country, particularly in Delhi.
