Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has decided that she will not contest in the state’s forthcoming assembly election, according to a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader.
BSP MP Satish Chandra Misra remarked, “Former Chief Minister Mayawati and I would not fight the Assembly elections.”
The previous chief minister is no longer a legislator or a member of Parliament. She has never contested for an Assembly seat in the state before. Misra serves in the Rajya Sabha. The BSP will run in all 403 of Uttar Pradesh’s seats.
The polling in Uttar Pradesh will be held on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27 and March 3 and 7 in seven phases. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
