The temperature in Delhi is 3.4 degrees this morning, and a cold wave is expected to last till January 3rd.

 

A frigid wave struck Delhi on Thursday, as residents prepared to ring in a frosty New Year, with the weather service predicting similar conditions until January 3. 

The minimum temperature at the Safdarjung Observatory, which is considered the official temperature gauge for the nation's capital, plunged drastically to three.4 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal. On Wednesday, the temperature was 8.4 degrees Celsius.

A cold wave blew into Delhi on Thursday, preparing people for a frigid New Year, with the weather authority projecting similar temperatures through January 3. 

The Safdarjung Observatory, which serves as the capital's official temperature gauge, recorded a low of 3.4 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal. 

On Wednesday, the temperature was 8.4 degrees Celsius. 

Ayanagar and Narela automatic weather stations in Delhi recorded minimum temperatures of 3.8 and 3.2 degrees Celsius, respectively, on Thursday.

Under the influence of an active western disturbance, which is predicted to bring extensive rain and snowfall to Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh between January 4 and 7, the minimum temperature is expected to begin climbing on January 4. 

Between January 5 and 7, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, north Rajasthan, and west Uttar Pradesh may get "light to moderate scattered to moderately widespread" rainfall.
