1.) Joe Biden - Joe Biden had been sworn in as the 46th President of the United States and Kamala Harris took oath as first woman US Vice President. 56-year-old Harris was sworn in as 49th Vice President of the United States in a historic but scaled-down ceremony under the unprecedented security umbrella of thousands of security personnel, who transformed the Capitol into a fortress to prevent any breach by pro-Donald Trump extremists.
2.) Mirabai Chanu - Mirabai Chanu won a silver medal in the women's 49 kg weightlifting competition to open India's counter at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The Manipur athlete lifted a total weight of 202 kg to win the medal.
3.) Neeraj Chopra - Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra made history on August 7, 2021, by winning India’s first-ever gold medal in athletics at the Tokyo Olympics. With a best throw of 87.58 meters, the 23-year-old took first place in the men’s javelin throw final.
4.) Bipin Rawat - The nation’s most senior military officer, Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat, and 11 other people on board an Indian Air Force helicopter were killed in a crash near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu shortly after noon Wednesday.
5.) Farmers Win - Thousands of jubilant Indian farmers waved green and white flags on Friday as they celebrated victory in forcing Prime Minister Narendra Modi to withdraw three agriculture laws the farmers feared would drastically reduce their incomes and leave them at the mercy of corporations.
6.) Miss Universe - India’s Harnaaz Sandhu has been crowned Miss Universe 2021 as she swiftly occupied the top spot on the trends list after search trends increased. Punjab-based Harnaaz Sandhu represented India at the 70th Miss Universe 2021, held in Eilat, Israel. Harnaaz was crowned Miss Universe 2021 as she beat Paraguay's Nadia Ferreira and South Africa's Lalela Mswane. Only two Indians have won the title of Miss Universe before Harnaaz Sandhu - actors Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000
