A Mumbai-Bhuj flight takes off without an engine panel

A flight from Mumbai to Bhuj takes off without an engine panel. On board were up to 70 individuals, including four crew members and one aircraft maintenance engineer. According to officials, the flight arrived safely in Bhuj, Gujarat.

According to officials, a panel of an Alliance Air ATR 72-600 aircraft’s engine fell off after take-off on Wednesday morning at the Mumbai airport and was retrieved by workers on the runway.

Air Traffic Control (ATC) reported that an engine cowling was found on the side of the runway.

The flight, on the other hand, arrived safely in Bhuj, Gujarat, according to officials. On board were up to 70 individuals, including four crew members and one aircraft maintenance engineer.

The situation is being investigated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The Director General (DG) of Civil Aviation, Arun Kumar, told that an engine cowling from an ATR aircraft with the call sign VT-RKJ operating on the Mumbai-Bhuj sector was discovered on the side of the runway.

D K Das, the Deputy Director General of Civil Aviation, informed Kumar of the event shortly after it occurred.

The separation of the engine cowling could have been caused by an aerodynamic effect, resulting in a little loss in aircraft performance. Components of the engine that are exposed to airflow may be harmed.

The cowl dropped on the runway as the plane took off from Mumbai airport around 6.30 a.m. “After takeoff, Mumbai ATC reported that an engine cowling was discovered on the runway side. It looked to be from BOM-based ATR aircraft VT-RKJ, which was flying 91-625. (BOM-BHJ). The plane is still in the air, and it’s still flying “Soon after the cowl was discovered, a Mumbai airport official informed.

The mishap, according to Captain Amit Singh, an aviation specialist, was caused by faulty maintenance work. “Incidents of cowl separation commonly occur after maintenance work if latches are not secured,”. Before starting the flight, the crew should make sure the engine cowl is in place.”

Alliance Air is a subsidiary of Air India, which was purchased from the government by Tata Group, and mostly serves internal routes as part of the government’s regional connectivity scheme.
