Adani Electricity Mumbai Enhances Network and Green Energy Push with New Transmission Lines
Adani Electricity Mumbai is making significant investments to enhance its network by constructing two new transmission lines in the city. These efforts align with the company's goal of sourcing up to 60% of its energy from renewable sources by 2027. The new transmission lines aim to strengthen the city's energy infrastructure and facilitate the transition to cleaner energy.
Expansion and Green Energy Commitment:
Adani Electricity Mumbai is undertaking a robust initiative by investing over Rs 2,000 crore to develop two transmission lines within the city. This endeavor reflects the company's dedication to reinforcing its energy distribution system while advancing its green energy strategy. The company aims to transition a substantial portion of its energy supply to renewables, contributing to a more sustainable future.

Transmission Line Details:
The two new transmission lines consist of the 84-kilometer Kharghar-Vikhroli line, situated in the northeastern suburbs of the megalopolis, and the Thane-Aarey Colony line. The Kharghar-Vikhroli line, spanning 84 kilometers, is projected to be completed by 2025. The Thane-Aarey Colony line will commence subsequent to the first line and is anticipated to be commissioned by 2027.
Project Timeline and Investment:
The senior company official mentioned that the project's construction is expected to begin in October. The Adani Electricity Mumbai team reached financial closure for the projects by securing a debt of Rs 1,700 crore from international lenders. The total investment for the venture will exceed Rs 2,000 crore, with Rs 1,700 crore being funded through debt. As part of the project, a 400-kV substation will also be established to augment the transmission capacity by 1,500 megawatts. This augmentation is crucial to meet the projected energy demand surge, which is anticipated to surpass 5,000 megawatts by FY25, up from the current 4,000 megawatts.

Advancements in Green Energy Supply:
The senior official highlighted that Adani Electricity Mumbai has made substantial progress in enhancing the supply of green energy to the city. The company serves more than 34 lakh customers, representing 6% of the city's total consumers. Over the past three years, Adani Electricity Mumbai has elevated its supply of solar and wind power by 10 times, increasing the green energy supply from 3% to 30%. This accomplishment signifies a significant stride towards a greener and more sustainable energy mix.
