Ahead of Republic Day, the restriction imposed by Delhi Police

For security considerations, the order will take effect on January 20 and will remain in place until February 15.

Until next month, Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana issued an order restricting the use of “sub-conventional aerial platforms” such as paragliders, promotors, unmanned aerial vehicles, hot air balloons, and para-jumping from planes throughout the city.

For security considerations, the order will take effect on January 20 and will remain in effect until February 15^th. According to the order, violators would be charged under IPC section 188 (disobedience to a validly proclaimed public servant order).

“It has been reported that certain criminals, anti-social elements, or terrorists hostile to India may use sub-conventional aerial platforms such as paragliders, promotors, hang-gliders, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, quadcopters, or para-jumping from aircraft to pose a threat to the safety of the general public, dignitaries, and vital installations,” it read.

All top police officials, police stations, and bodies such as the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), municipal corporations, PWD, DDA, and the Delhi Cantonment Board have received the directive.
