Akshay Kumar praises Twinkle Khanna as his ‘Trophy Wife’ after her Book Award win

Twinkle Khanna recently won an award for her book Welcome to Paradise. Akshay Kumar, her husband and popular Bollywood actor, celebrated her success with a fun and heartfelt message. He called Twinkle his “trophy wife” in a lighthearted Instagram post, showing how proud he is of her achievement.

Twinkle’s book won the Crossword Book Award 2024 in the Popular Fiction category. Sharing his excitement on Instagram Stories, Akshay wrote, “My trophy wife—literally (laughing emoji). But she earns her own accolades. So proud of my Crossword Popular Choice Award winner (kissing face emoji).”

Twinkle also took to Instagram to share her happiness. She posted a video of herself receiving the award and gave her fans a glimpse of the trophy. In the clip, the award was placed next to her book and her dog, Mr. Jeeves. She added Queen’s iconic song We Are The Champions as the background music.

Twinkle’s celebrations took an unexpected turn when her dog, Mr. Jeeves, ate a piece of chocolate cake she had left on the table. Chocolate is harmful to dogs, so she had to rush him to the vet for treatment. Thankfully, Mr. Jeeves recovered quickly.

In her Instagram post, Twinkle wrote, “Last night, Welcome to Paradise won the Crossword Book Award 2024 in the Popular Fiction category, and I decided to celebrate. Among the goodies in one of the hampers was a chocolate cake. I sliced a piece, left it on the coffee table, and when I came back—Mr. Jeeves had consumed it. This led to a midnight dash to the vet to get my 'celebration' pumped out of his stomach.”

She added, “These things only happen to me, which is why I’ll never run out of stories. Mr. Jeeves is a little tired but fine, and so am I.” Twinkle also thanked her editor, saying their collaboration produced “some winners.”

Twinkle’s journey as an Author

Twinkle Khanna has written four books so far. Her first, Mrs Funnybones, came out in 2015 and received much praise. Her second book, The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad, was a collection of short stories. In 2018, her third book, Pyjamas Are Forgiving, made her the highest-selling female author in India.

Her latest book, Welcome to Paradise, was released in 2023. It reflects her unique style of storytelling and continues to win readers' hearts.

Twinkle has also invested in her craft by pursuing a Master’s degree in Fiction Writing from Goldsmiths, University of London. She completed her degree in 2022.

Twinkle and Akshay have been married since 2001. They are parents to two children, Aarav and Nitara. Despite their busy lives, they always support each other’s achievements, whether in films or literature.

Twinkle’s recent award adds another milestone to her career as an author, and Akshay’s heartfelt reaction shows the love and pride they share as a couple.
