Amit Shah's drug-free India pledge: tackle entire network

Amit Shah's bold 'Drug-Free India' mission: focus on dismantling entire drug network

Union Home Minister Amit Shah stressed that drugs not only harm the youth but also threaten national security. He stated that drug money funds terrorism and weakens the economy. Speaking at the inauguration of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) office in Raipur, Shah emphasized the need for a strong fight against drug trafficking.

Zero tolerance approach to drugs

Shah urged all states to adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics. He highlighted the Centre’s plan to open NCB offices in every state and crack down on drug networks using scientific methods. Shah outlined four key strategies: detecting drugs, dismantling networks, arresting criminals, and rehabilitating addicts. He shared that drug-related cases and arrests have increased significantly from 2014 to 2024 compared to the previous decade.
