Another Akhilesh Yadav’s relative will join the BJP after Aparna Yadav.
A day after Mulayam Singh Yadav's daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), his brother-in-law and former Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Pramod Gupta is expected to join the BJP on Thursday in Lucknow.
"Today at noon, in the presence of Laxmikant Bajpai, I shall join the BJP," Mr Gupta told reporters at his Auraiya home.
He went on to say, "The Samajwadi Party is a haven for mafias and criminals, and continuing in such a party is pointless. Mulayam Singh Yadav has been imprisoned by Akhilesh. Akhilesh tormented Netaji (Mulayam Singh) and Shivpal."
In the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and BJP State President Swatantra Dev Singh, Aparna Yadav joined the BJP on Wednesday.
Mr Pratik Yadav's younger son Mulayam Singh Yadav's wife is Ms Aparna. In 2011, they married. According to sources, Ms Aparna has applied for a ticket from the Lucknow Cantt assembly seat for the next assembly elections.
Aparna Yadav joined the BJP on Wednesday in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and BJP State President Swatantra Dev Singh.
Ms Aparna is the wife of Mr Pratik Yadav's younger son Mulayam Singh Yadav. They married in 2011. Ms Aparna has sought for a ticket from the Lucknow Cantt assembly constituency in the upcoming assembly elections, according to reports.
Beginning February 10, elections to the 403 assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh will be contested in seven phases. In Uttar Pradesh, voting will take place in seven rounds on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27, and March 3 and 7. The results of the election will be announced on March 10.
