Union Minister Ajay Teni's son gets bail granted by the HC
The Allahabad High Court's Lucknow Bench granted bail to Ashish Mishra alias Monu, the son of principal accused Union minister Ajai Mishra Teni, in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident in which some farmers were slain, on Thursday. On October 9, Ashish was detained in connection with the violence that erupted in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, on October 3.
On October 3, violence occurred during a farmers' demonstration, killing eight people including farmers and BJP members ahead of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya's arrival to Lakhimpur.
Four persons were killed in cars that were part of a BJP motorcade that had arrived to greet the UP minister. The other four were farmers. According to the Special Investigation Team investigating the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri, there was a concerted conspiracy to murder protesting farmers.
