Ayodhya prepares to host National Archery Championship

India's leading archers are set to showcase their skills at the Senior National Archery Championship in Ayodhya from November 25 to 30. After an impressive performance at the Hongzhou Asian Games, the event is expected to feature almost all of India's top archers. The championship will witness the participation of around 1,100 archers from across the country, including 550 women.

Inauguration by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath

The championship will be inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, emphasizing the state's commitment to promoting sports. Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur will take part in the closing ceremony, highlighting the significance of the event in the national sporting calendar.

Indian archers have already achieved notable success at the ongoing Asian Games, clinching three gold medals, one silver, and one bronze. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised the Indian archers for their outstanding performances.

Competition details

The Senior National Archery Championship will feature competitions in individual, team, and mixed team events, spanning Indian, recurve, and compound rounds. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit the Ram temple being constructed in Ayodhya.

The state government's investment in sports infrastructure in recent years has begun to yield results, making Uttar Pradesh a preferred destination for sporting events. The state has successfully hosted significant events like the Khelo India University Games, Davis Cup, and Moto GP this year. The Senior National Archery Championship is another milestone in Uttar Pradesh's growing stature in the field of sports.
