Bengal Governor launches student helpline amidst university challenges

A Helping hand for students

In a move to assist students facing challenges within universities, the Governor of West Bengal has taken a proactive step by introducing a dedicated helpline. This helpline aims to provide much-needed support to students who are struggling with issues in their academic journey, especially those studying in State Universities where key leadership positions are currently vacant.

Taking charge during uncertainty

With some State Universities in Bengal facing a shortage of Vice-Chancellors, students have encountered difficulties in obtaining essential documents like degree certificates. In response, the Governor, who also holds the role of Chancellor, has made a significant decision. He will temporarily assume the responsibilities of the Vice-Chancellors in these universities until new interim Vice-Chancellors are appointed. This decision seeks to alleviate the challenges that students have been facing.

Multiple avenues for support

To ensure an effective platform for students to express their concerns and find solutions, the Governor's office has established various communication channels. Students can share their grievances through the email address provided, which is amnesaamne.rajbhavankolkata@gmail.com. Additionally, a peace room has been designated, and students can reach out by calling the phone number 03322001642. These measures aim to create a streamlined process for students seeking assistance.

Direct engagement and interaction

Recognizing the importance of direct communication, the Governor has also created opportunities for students to engage more closely. They have the chance to interact face-to-face with the Governor either at the Rajbhavan, during tours, or at circuit houses. To participate, students can register online for the 'amnesame' programme. Furthermore, the Governor plans to visit universities regularly to directly interact with students, understanding their needs and concerns firsthand.
