During a joint roadshow, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal urged voters to support the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on May 25.
Appeal for support
Kejriwal assured voters that if they choose the AAP by pressing the 'jhadu' button (AAP's symbol) on May 25, he won't have to return to jail. He emphasized the power of their vote in determining his fate.
Mann echoed similar sentiments, calling for a significant mandate for the AAP in the ongoing elections to prevent Kejriwal from going to jail again. He expressed confidence in the AAP and INDIA alliance's ability to come to power.
Bail and allegations:
Kejriwal was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court until June 1 to campaign for the Lok Sabha polls. He highlighted alleged mistreatment during his previous jail term, accusing the BJP of obstructing his work for the people of Delhi.
The 21-day bail order imposes restrictions on Kejriwal, preventing him from visiting his office or the Delhi Secretariat and signing official files without the approval of the Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena. Delhi will cast its votes for all 7 Parliamentary seats on May 25.
