BJP's Moradabad Candidate Kunwar Sarvesh Singh passes away

BJP Candidate Kunwar Sarvesh Singh from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, succumbs to illness

Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Moradabad Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh, has died at the age of 72. He had been unwell for some time and passed away at Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Saturday. 

Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar had a notable political career, serving as the Member of Parliament (MP) from Moradabad from 2014 to 2019. Prior to his stint as an MP, he held the position of MLA for five terms, representing the Thakurdwara assembly constituency in Moradabad from 1991 to 2007 and again from 2012 to 2014.

Electoral history

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar lost the Moradabad seat to ST Hasan, who was jointly fielded by the Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). Despite his defeat, Kumar remained a prominent figure within the BJP.

Following his passing, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences in a heartfelt message. He stated, "I am shocked by the demise of BJP candidate from Moradabad Lok Sabha constituency and former MP Kunwar Sarvesh Singh ji. This is an irreparable loss for the BJP family. My condolences are with the bereaved family."

Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar is survived by his wife Sadhna Singh, as well as a son and a daughter. His family and supporters mourn his loss and remember his contributions to politics in the region.

Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar's passing marks the end of a long and influential political career in Uttar Pradesh. His dedication to public service, spanning both legislative and parliamentary roles, earned him respect and admiration within the BJP and beyond.
