Advanced version of the BrahMos missile was successfully tested

BrahMos cruise missile successfully test-fired by the Indian Navy

A long-range version of the BrahMos cruise missile was successfully tested by the Indian Navy today.

The Indian Navy’s warship INS Chennai conducted a test firing of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile.

The test-firing, according to the Navy, proved the BrahMos missile’s long-range precision attack capability.

“Long range precision strike capability of advanced version of BrahMos missile successfully validated. Pin point destruction of target demonstrated combat and mission readiness of frontline platforms. Yet another shot in the arm for Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” the Navy tweeted.

“Both the Brahmos missile and the INS Chennai were manufactured in India, demonstrating the country’s missile and shipbuilding prowess. They emphasise the Indian Navy’s role in the Atma Nirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives. This accomplishment underlines the Indian Navy’s potential to strike much deeper and impact land operations further afield when and when needed “In a statement, the Navy said.

The BrahMos, one of the world’s most destructive cruise missiles, is tested by the Navy on a regular basis. INS Visakhapatnam, the Indian Navy’s newest warship, tested the BrahMos supersonic missile last month.

In November 2017, a Sukhoi-30MKI successfully test-fired the air-launched variant of the BrahMos.

BrahMos is the Indian Navy’s primary weapon system, and it has been installed on nearly all of the Indian Navy’s surface platforms. An underwater version is also being created, which would be utilised not only by Indian submarines but also exported to other foreign countries.

BrahMos cruise missiles to Philippines

The Philippines accepted BrahMos Aerospace’s proposal to provide supersonic cruise missiles for its navy on Friday. The Philippines Department of National Defense issued a Notice of Award to India, for $374.9 million, signed by Secretary Delfinn Lorenzana. The order instructed BrahMos Aerospace to deliver the Shore-based Anti-ship Missile System within ten calendar days of receiving it.

The agreement is thought to represent a huge step forward for Prime Minister Modi’s government in pushing defence exports. According to ANI, the DRDO and BrahMos Aerospace have been working together for the past few months to secure an export deal to friendly foreign countries. The BrahMos supersonic missile, which is built by an Indo-Russian joint venture, may be launched from submarines, ships, planes, or land.
