BSNL's groundbreaking nationwide expansion: Introducing indigenous 4G services across India

BSNL, in alignment with India's self-reliance policy, is gearing up to introduce 4G services across the nation, set to commence from August. Leveraging indigenous technology, the telecom giant aims to provide high-speed connectivity, reaching speeds of up to 40-45 megabits per second during the pilot phase. This initiative marks a significant stride towards digital empowerment, enhancing accessibility and efficiency in communication infrastructure.

Indigenous technology and infrastructure deployment

Utilizing technology developed domestically by entities like TCS and C-DoT, BSNL is poised to deploy over 112,000 towers to bolster its 4G and 5G network infrastructure. Contracts totaling Rs 19,000 crore have been awarded to key players in the industry for the network deployment. The robust infrastructure, coupled with the strategic use of spectrum bands, promises enhanced network performance and coverage nationwide.

Accessible and enhanced connectivity

BSNL's proactive approach includes the installation of over 9,000 towers dedicated to 4G services, with a significant concentration in states like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, UP West, and Haryana. With more than 800,000 subscribers already benefiting from the pilot services in Punjab, the widespread rollout aims to bridge the digital divide, ensuring seamless connectivity for millions across the country.
