Chandigarh heats up after sunny day

Sunny day causes temperature in Chandigarh to rise by seven notches

On Tuesday, Chandigarh experienced a sunny afternoon, causing the maximum temperature to rise significantly. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the temperature increased from 13.7°C on Monday to 20.1°C on Tuesday, which is considered normal for this time of year. Visitors in the city enjoyed the pleasant weather during the day.

Fog and rain expected soon

IMD officials predict that after the sunny weather and increased moisture levels, moderate to dense fog is likely to appear in the coming days. Rainfall is expected to return around December 27, bringing colder conditions to the region. Although no fog was recorded on Tuesday, its presence could reduce daytime temperatures. The minimum temperature dropped slightly from 9.3°C on Monday to 8.4°C on Tuesday, which is still 1.4 degrees above normal. Over the next three days, the maximum temperature is predicted to stay between 19°C and 20°C, while the minimum temperature may range from 6°C to 9°C.

The recent rainfall has helped improve Chandigarh’s air quality. The Air Quality Index (AQI) decreased to 150 on Tuesday, which falls in the moderate category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Previously, the city’s AQI had been in the poor category, with levels exceeding 200. The improvement in air quality is a welcome relief for residents.

Chandigarh’s weather changes reflect the typical winter patterns of northern India, with fluctuating temperatures, fog, and occasional rainfall. The IMD’s forecasts help residents prepare for these shifts in weather conditions.
