Abandoned newborn discovered in Chandigarh

In a distressing incident at Chandigarh Sector 43 bus stand, a seven-day-old baby boy was discovered abandoned in the ladies' washroom. The police, alerted to the situation, examined CCTV footage revealing a couple leaving the newborn in the restroom before departing for Pathankot with a bus ticket. The incident led to the registration of a case against the unidentified couple under Section 317 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), pertaining to the abandonment of a newborn.

Child shifted to sector 16 hospital

Following the discovery, authorities promptly moved the abandoned infant to Sector 16 hospital for necessary care and attention. The police are actively pursuing the case, aiming to identify and take legal action against the couple responsible for abandoning the child.

Separate incident: discovery of female foetus

In an unrelated occurrence, a distressing discovery unfolded in Sector 45, where a female foetus was found in the garden of a house. Law enforcement has registered a case under Section 318 of the IPC, addressing the death of a child. The circumstances surrounding this incident are currently under investigation.

These two incidents underscore the importance of safeguarding and ensuring the well-being of infants, prompting authorities to take swift action in both cases to address the welfare of the abandoned newborn and investigate the tragic discovery of the female foetus.
