Water leak triggers home disaster: wall collapse and cave-in in Chandigarh's sector-15

A house in Chandigarh's Sector 15-B faced a crisis when its courtyard collapsed, and the boundary wall crumbled due to a water supply pipe leak. The incident occurred late on Friday evening, prompting the homeowner to file a complaint with the municipal commissioner.

Municipal Corporation swift action

Responding promptly, the municipal corporation (MC) team took action on Saturday to address the water leakage. The repair prevented additional damage to the house, situated in Sector 15-B, opposite the second-hand book market.

The homeowner, Bhavneet Goyal, highlighted that no visible signs of dampness or leaks were apparent. However, the water had silently eroded the foundations of the courtyard, pavement, and the front area of the house. The collapse transpired when the owner's driver stepped onto the pavement, which gave way unexpectedly.

Building branch inspection reveals wall collapse

Officials from the building branch arrived to assess the situation and discovered the entire wall had collapsed. The owner, who has lived in the house for two decades, faced the unexpected disaster.
