Two killed in road accidents in Mohali and Panchkula

Two people lost their lives in separate road accidents in Mohali and Panchkula on Sunday. The first accident happened near the Cheema light point in Mohali, where a motorcyclist was hit by an unknown vehicle. The second accident took place near the Panchkula-Kalka highway in Sector 20, where a young woman was fatally injured by a vehicle that lost control.

Motorcyclist dies in Mohali accident

The first accident occurred around 2:15 pm near the Cheema light point in Mohali. The victim, 24-year-old Adarsh Kondal, was from Kangra but lived in a rented house in Kharar. He was employed at a private company in the Industrial Area. According to his sister, Adarsh was on his way to Mohali when he was hit by an unidentified vehicle. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Phase-6 hospital, but doctors were unable to save him. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.

Young woman killed in Panchkula

The second accident involved a 22-year-old woman named Richa, who was walking near the Panchkula-Kalka highway in Sector 20 when a Thar SUV lost control and mounted the footpath, hitting her. The accident occurred due to a speeding car that collided with the Thar, causing the SUV to go out of control. Richa, a resident of Dhakoli, worked at a mall in Pir Muchalla and was on her way home from work when the accident happened.

Richa was critically injured and was first taken to the Civil Hospital in Panchkula. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was referred to PGI Chandigarh for advanced treatment. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries. A case has been registered, and the police are investigating the incident.

Panic in Sector 19, Chandigarh

On Monday, a separate incident caused panic in Sector 19, Chandigarh. An enforcement wing vehicle arrived at Sadar Bazar for action, leading to chaos in the market area. In the midst of the commotion, a large cauldron of hot oil at a food stall accidentally overturned, severely burning two people.

The victims, identified as 22-year-old Sehajram and 19-year-old Phoolbabu, suffered serious burn injuries. They were immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Sector 32 for treatment. Their current condition remains unknown.

Authorities are looking into the incident and ensuring that safety measures are followed in crowded market areas to prevent such accidents in the future.
