Chandigarh's "iconic week" from March 6-13

Chandigarh's Iconic Week celebrations get off to a great start

By flagging off a vintage car/bike rally at Sector 42 lake, UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit originally inaugurated the Iconic Week celebrations under the Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav-2022.

A range of events took place on the first day, including spectacular performances by ITBP personnel. The audience was enthralled when the service’s motorcyclists demonstrated their abilities. The city’s reaction to their audacious stunts was overwhelmingly positive.

Following that, a dog squad gave an outstanding performance. Inspector-General of the ITBP, Ishwar Singh Duhan, was also there, as were other top personnel.

Girl students taught by the Chandigarh Police under Swayam, a self-defense training programme, demonstrated various self-defense methods learned in the course, emphasising the importance of women feeling secure and empowered.

The amazing light and musical display had city residents mesmerized. The audience was also entertained to a musical evening including Dubai artists and the Rudraksha Band.

The Administrator praised the work and urged additional ladies to participate in the programme to develop confidence in their ability to overcome fear.

On March 11, the Indian Army will conduct a blood donation camp in Sector 10’s open field. Throughout the event, the ITBP will put on a dog show, a demonstration, and a weapon display on the open area.

From March 11 to 13, the ground will host a cultural festival, as well as amusement attractions and food stalls.

The celebrations are being held by a number of non-governmental organisations, groups, clubs, associations, and colleges. Panjab University, PEC, CCA, and Government College of Art are among them.
