Amritsar, July 11-
Taking strict note of baseless statements by Akali leaders on the issue of state capital, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today slammed the Shiromani Akali Dal leadership for diluting the claim of state on Chandigarh.
“Everyone knows who shifted the state government offices from Chandigarh to Mohali and formed the New Chandigarh” said the Chief Minister after paying obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib here on Monday.
The Chief Minister said that Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal had connived with the governments at the centre to dilute the claims of Punjab over Chandigarh. He categorically asked Sukhbir Badal to explain that why they were tight-lipped about Chandigarh when they were partners in the successive government at the centre. Bhagwant Mann said that Badals have remained mum for the sake of their vested political interests adding that even Congress leadership remained mute spectator on the entire matter.
The Chief Minister further said that Akalis and Congress were trying to score brownie points before the media by issuing baseless statements. Bhagwant Mann said that his government is committed for the well being of every strata of society. He said that every issue is being resolved after active consultation with the general public.
The Chief Minister, while assailing the Congress party, said that its Ministers had sold the trees of the state. On the contrary, he said that his government is committed for making Punjab clean, green and pollution free. Bhagwant Mann said that his government will restore the pristine glory of the state in the coming days.

He said that the decision has been taken to make Punjab clean, green and pollution free. Bhagwant Mann said that strenuous efforts will be made for developing the Mattewara forest as ecological park for attracting Tourism.
The Chief Minister further said that his government has launched a massive crackdown against the drug peddlers in the state. He said that the target is to make Punjab a drug free state. Bhagwant Mann said that while the supply line of the drugs has been snapped, the state government is now focussing on putting drug peddlers behind the bars.
The Chief Minister further said that maintenance of law and order was the top priority of the state government. He unequivocally said that no one will be allowed to disturb the hard earned peace of the state. Bhagwant Mann said that the state government is committed for the well being of all.
