Cold snap: Chandigarh records season's lowest temperature at 5.3°C

Chandigarh shivers as temperature hits season's lowest at 5.3°C

The chill tightened its grip on Punjab and Haryana, with Chandigarh experiencing its lowest winter temperature yet at 5.3°C, 1.6°C below normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Dense fog in the region caused visibility to drop significantly, affecting daily activities.

Lowest Winter temperature recorded:

On Friday, the night temperature in Chandigarh plummeted from 6.4°C to 5.3°C, marking the lowest this season. The IMD attributed the drop to clearer skies at night, leading to the intensification of the cold wave. Amritsar in Punjab recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 1.4°C, while Balasmand in Haryana's Hisar district reached a bone-chilling 0.4°C.
