Stand-up comedian Samay Raina appeared before Maharashtra Cyber on Monday to record his statement in a case involving objectionable remarks made on his YouTube show, "India’s Got Latent." The probe is part of an ongoing investigation against podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia and others after his comments on parents and sex sparked massive outrage.
Maharashtra Cyber’s investigation
Maharashtra Cyber, which handles cybercrime and information security cases in the state, had summoned Raina multiple times to give his statement regarding the controversy. The comedian, who had been traveling abroad, finally appeared at the agency’s headquarters in Mhape, Navi Mumbai, to cooperate with the probe. He arrived in the afternoon and spent over five hours providing his statement before leaving the premises at 6:45 PM.
Officials revealed that the agency had already questioned several others linked to the show, including Allahbadia, YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, and content creator Apoorva Makhija. The investigation was launched after Allahbadia’s remarks on the show, which aired in February, triggered widespread criticism and led to multiple police complaints.

Controversy over "India’s Got Latent"
The now-deleted episode of "India’s Got Latent" became the center of controversy after Allahbadia’s statements went viral, drawing backlash from audiences and social groups. Both online and offline protests erupted, with people accusing the show of promoting inappropriate content. The Maharashtra Cyber cell took cognizance of the complaints, leading to summons being issued to those associated with the program.
As the case unfolds, authorities continue their investigation into the matter, examining whether any legal violations occurred and if further action needs to be taken. Meanwhile, Raina and others involved are expected to cooperate with the probe as it progresses.
