Congress names Prahlad Gunjal to challenge Om Birla in Kota for LS Polls

Congress announces sixth List of Candidates for LS Polls; Prahlad Gunjal to contest against Om Birla in Kota

The Congress party revealed its sixth list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, declaring five names for various constituencies. Prahlad Gunjal has been nominated to contest against outgoing Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in Kota. Additionally, Ramchandra Choudhary, Sudarshan Rawat, Damodar Gurjar, and C Robert Bruce have been fielded for Ajmer, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, and Tirunelveli respectively.

Background and significance:

Prahlad Gunjal recently joined the Congress in Jaipur in the presence of senior party leaders like former chief minister Ashok Gehlot and Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra. Gunjal, a former MLA from Kota North and a close associate of former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje, is known for his vocal leadership. His entry into the Congress is expected to strengthen the party's position in the Hadoti region.

Total number of Candidates and Election schedule:

With this announcement, the Congress has now declared a total of 190 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The elections will be conducted in seven phases, commencing on April 19 and concluding on June 4, with the results to be announced thereafter. This marks a significant step for the Congress as it finalizes its roster of candidates for the highly anticipated electoral contest.
