Administration Stays on its toes to avert any flood like situation in District

DC leads the Administration from front to tackle any emergency

To cope up with any flood like situation in SAS Nagar district, the administration stayed on its toes to avert any untoward situation , in wake of the heavy incessant rain on Saturday.
       Divulging details, deputy commissioner Aashika Jain said that the district and sub divisional administrative teams had been put on alert with the onset of rains in the morning.
      ADC (UD) Damandeep Singh Mann was entrusted with the task of keeping a close eye on the preparations of Urban Local Bodies while ADC (G) Paramdeep Singh and DRO Gurjinder Singh Benipal were asked to keep a tab on water sources and courses flowing through the district.
       Sub Divisional Magistrates of all three sub divisions were also directed to keep check on water courses and drain out storm water from the urban areas.
      The railway underpasses at Derabassi that submerged in storm water were given special attention with stationing one fire brigade each at Mubarakpur and Janitpur. Besides, the storm water pumped out to keep the underpass in working, added the Deputy Commissioner Jain, in the afternoon.
      She further added that in Zirakpur, JCB, tractor trolleys, mus pumps, water sucking tankers, steel drinking water tankers and jetting machines are kept available to push them into emergency services.
      In Kharar, a building on Landra road has been evacuated keeping in view the safety of the people, she added. Besides, 12 pumps including six Tractor mounting have been pressed into service to clear the storm water from the city roads.
     Mrs Jain also said that the vulnerable point of Ghaggar at Tiwana village where it takes sharp turn, was also being monitored closely by keeping ready sufficient quantity of sand bags by Drainage, Revenue and Panchayat department officials so that any untoward situation can be handled immediately.
     Aashika Jain said that all the SDMs and EOs and BDPOs to keep check their respective areas for flooding besides deploying pumping machines in vulnerable/critical areas and take other preventive measures as needed to clear flooded water.
