Delhi police: no online deliveries, except medicines, during G20 Summit

Online deliveries, excluding medicines, banned in New Delhi during G20 Summit, says Delhi Police

In preparations for the upcoming G20 summit in New Delhi, the Delhi Police has announced temporary restrictions on all online delivery services, with the exception of medicine deliveries. Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) SS Yadav clarified this decision during a press conference and emphasized that the initial traffic advisory issued by the police on August 25 remains unchanged.

Yadav stated that essential services such as postal and medical services, along with sample collections by pathology labs, will continue to operate throughout Delhi. However, in the New Delhi area, commercial activities, including most online delivery services, will not be allowed. The exception is medicine deliveries, which will be permitted to ensure the uninterrupted availability of essential healthcare items.

Impact on Metro services and travel

Regarding travel within the city, Yadav mentioned that some station gates may be temporarily closed for 10-15 minutes due to VIP movements and security measures. However, this temporary closure will not affect metro services at stations other than Pragati Maidan (Supreme Court).

For individuals holding hotel reservations within the district, Yadav confirmed that they can travel to their accommodations by presenting their boarding passes and booking documents, facilitating their arrival during the G20 summit.

Promoting alternative transportation methods

In an effort to ease travel during the summit, the Delhi Police encouraged the use of metro services, particularly for airport transfers. They advised travelers to visit the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) website for information on metro routes and services within the capital city.

For those choosing to drive, the police recommended following the suggested routes outlined in the traffic advisory, available on the Delhi Traffic Police G20 virtual helpdesk. Additionally, they suggested using the "Mappls Map" app, which provides real-time traffic updates and the best routes based on the latest traffic advisory from the Delhi Traffic Police.
