Delhi sees heavy traffic as crowds flock to Markets on Dhanteras eve

On Dhanteras, many people flocked to markets in Delhi, causing significant traffic jams. Areas like Badarpur flyover, CV Raman Marg, and Punjabi Bagh experienced heavy congestion. Commuters shared their struggles on social media, noting slow-moving traffic.

Police efforts to manage traffic

Delhi Police arranged for personnel to monitor busy roads and prevent congestion. They advised shoppers to park in designated areas and used loudspeakers to guide traffic. Security was increased in markets, including Sadar Bazar and Khan Market, with measures like barricading and facial recognition systems to ensure safety. The Delhi Metro also added 60 extra trips to help reduce congestion during the festive season.
